Islamabad: 4 lawmakers booked over fake degrees
ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Justice (r) Hamid Ali Mirza on Tuesday referred the cases of four lawmakers to district police officers (DPOs) for registration of criminal cases against them over fake degrees.
The cases have been registered under section 78(3) (d) of the Representation of the People Act, 1976 that is a cognisable offence under section 94 of the said act.
A case has been registered against Sardar Ali, MPA (PK-34), Haji Nasir Mehmood, former MPA (PP-111), Saima Aziz (Muhiuddin) MPA (PP-Reserved) and Safina Saima Khar, MPA (PP-Reserved).
The Supreme Court in its judgment had observed, “The Election Commission is directed to initiate action against all such persons who are accused of committing corrupt practices, forgery and using documents which they knew or at least had reason to believe to be forged.”
