Capital police arrest 300 street criminals in 2010
ISLAMABAD: Police arrested 300 persons involved in street crimes during 2010 and recovered looted items worth Rs37.5 million, including 229 mobile phones, 44 cars and two motorbikes, a police spokesman said.
All police officials and Station House Officers (SHOs) launched aggressive campaigns against the criminals on the directives of Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Bani Amin and Senior Superintendent of Police Tahir Alam Khan.
They also obtained record of the persons who had ever remained involved in street crimes and at last succeeded to arrest 300 criminals.
City Circle Police arrested 24 persons with 21 mobile phones and one car, Margallah Circle Police held 83 accused with 96 mobile phones, four cars and two motorbikes and Saddar Circle Police arrested 46 with 17 vehicles and 27 mobile phones.
Shahzad Town and Rural Circle arrested 76 accused with 14 vehicles and 29 cell phones and Industrial Area Circle Police arrested 38 persons with five cars and 30 mobile phones.
Secretariat Circle Police arrested 33 persons and recovered three cars and 23 mobile phones from their possession.
