Tensions grips Karachi once again
KARACHI: An office-bearer of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has been shot dead in PIB Colony, turning parts of city into flashpoints and causing a freeze on commercial activities here. Meanwhile, unidentified people torched at least three vehicles here.
Some unidentified miscreants opened gunfire at Syed Yawar Abbas, MQM’s activist. He was rushed to hospital; however, he succumbed to injuries. Following the incident, tension gripped the area with enraged people on rampage, who set three buses on fire.
Eight people were injured in the recent violent spate.
An important point to note here is Yawar’s father also was victimized in target killing spree seven years back. Yawar Abbas was the only brother of four sisters.
The incident sent violent ripples to various areas of the city including Nazimabad, where commercial centers were closed.
Another MQM activist Asim Abbas Zaidi was also targeted in Hyderabad.
