70 held in Islamabad search operations
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police on Wednesday arrested 70 suspects and five outlaws during search operations in various areas of the federal capital.
During the operation, the police screened houses, workshops, parking lots, markets, under construction buildings and residential areas.
According to a press release issued by SSP Tahir Alam Khan’s office, police conducted search operations in the areas of Khana, Sohan, Iqbal Town, Shakrial, Ghori Town, Sangam Town and Khana Dak.
Teams of Bomb Disposal Squad, police commandos, and lady police also participated in the operation while sniffer dogs were also used where felt necessary.
Shehzad Town Police arrested 45 suspects, Koral Police arrested 18 persons, Shalimar Police arrested four suspects and Sihala Police arrested three suspects while 10 motorbikes were also impounded, as motorcyclists could not prove their ownership.
Sources said that most of the suspects did not have identity cards due to which they were arrested. They would be released as soon as they provide their identification, they added.
Meanwhile, Tarnol Police arrested Abdul Rehman and Tahir and recovered 2.5 kilogram hashish, three 9-MM pistols and 90 rounds from them.
