Islamabad: ECP refers MPA’s fake degree case to concerned DPO

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has referred the case of Punjab Assembly member Rana Ijaz Noon to the concerned District Police Officer (DPO) for launch of criminal proceeding against him for submitting a fake degree.

The sources in the ECP revealed to Daily Times that the ECP had sent a case of another MPA, who was elected from Lodhran to the DPO. They said that 14 cases had been referred to the concerned DPOs for lodging FIRs against the fake degree holders.



The sources also said that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Tuesday sent a list of 298 parliamentarians to the ECP, who were not submitting their degrees of matriculation and intermediate. They said that after publication of fake degree news in different sections of media, 15 legislators had submitted their to the ECP on Wednesday.

A senior ECP official revealed to Daily Times that the HEC had declared the degrees of 60 legislators as fake, and the ECP had already sent 14 cases of fake degree holders to the concerned police officers for launch of criminal proceedings against them.
