Fake customs officials rob expatriate in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI, Jan 16: A man returning from Saudi Arabia was deprived of cash and other valuables by fake customs officials in Westridge, police said on Sunday.
Mehmood Akhtar was going home from Benazir Bhutto airport with his sons in car RIL-1905 when four men in another car intercepted them near Westridge.
The men identified themselves as customs officials and asked for searching the baggage. During search, the imposters took away 8,000 Saudi riyals, a laptop and a cellphone.
Meanwhile, a trader of Ganjmandi was robbed of Rs300,000 by three gunmen. Mohammad Yousuf was working in his office when the three men asked him to hand over cash. He said the gunmen left after locking him inside the office.
