Pillion riding banned in Karachi
KARACHI: The government on Sunday imposed a fresh ban on pillion riding in the city.
Capital City Police Officer Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari told Dawn that the ban would be enforced across the city.
“Initially the ban will be effective for one week….but it will be extended depending on the law and order situation.”
The ban on pillion riding had been imposed in Muharram and was lifted after the Ashura passed off peacefully.
The pillion-riding ban was imposed following Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s announcement that a “partial curfew” and a ban on pillion riding would be imposed in the city to carry out operations against terrorists.
