Quails fight, gamblers lose in Chakwal
CHAKWAL, Jan 16: As many as 46 people were arrested here on Sunday for their alleged involvement in gambling over quail fight.
District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali Mohsin in a hurriedly called press conference said that Rs200,000, two cars, 20 motorcycles and 35 mobile phones were also recovered from the possession of the gamblers.
He further said the police officials came to know that every Sunday quail fight was held in Maingan village falling in the jurisdiction of Saddar police station.
He said he constituted a special team headed by Inspector Azhar Shah who conducted a raid and nabbed the alleged gamblers.
He said more than 2,000 spectators were watching the quail fight and the total bet money was Rs4 million. He urged the people to cooperate with the police for the eradication of crimes from the district.
Meanwhile, DPO has suspended SHO Shaukat Hayat of Saddar police station for his failure to control gambling over quail fight.
