Karachi: 2 absconders overpowered

KARACHI: The joint venture of Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) claimed to have arrested two absconders from different parts of the city on Monday.

SP AVCC Farooq Awan said on a tip-off, an AVCC and CPLC team conducted a raid at Steel Town area and overpowered an absconder Agha Mansoor after some resistance.

 

Farooq said the accused was involved in various heinous cases of crimes. The accused along with his accomplices had kidnapped doctor Sham on December 6, 2010 and freed him on January 9, 2011 after getting ransom, he said.

 

The SP said four accomplices of Agha Mansoor were at large, however, the police were in search for their arrest.

 

In another raid, AVCC and CPLC officials arrested one more absconder Shakeel from Khair Mohammad Goth in Gadap Town.



 

SP Awan said on receiving information, a police party conducted a raid at the area and arrested the absconder involved in kidnapping a 6-year-old Abdul Basit on January 10.

 

The SP said the accused had freed the boy after receiving Rs150,000 ransom.

 

He said the kidnapper, posing himself a doctor, also used to run a clinic while he had also been jailed in 1997 in a kidnapping case.
