Karachi: Young man found shot dead in Malir
KARACHI: The bullet-riddled body of a young man was found in a playground in Malir on Wednesday, police said.
They said the victim, identified as Zain-ul-Abideen alias Naushad in his early 30s, had been shot three bullets fired from a very close range.
“A few elders of the area while returning home after morning prayers found the body lying in the Shaheen Football Ground,” said an official at the Malir City police station.
“The police were informed and the body was later moved to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.”
He said a few officials associated with the investigation section of the police station recognised the victim as one of the accused arrested for an alleged robbery in 2008 after an encounter with the police.
“The fact was later confirmed by the family, who managed to get the news and reached the JPMC to receive the body,” said the official, adding that the police later came to know that the victim was released by the Central Prison only two weeks ago.
“The victim was a resident of Sahib Dad Goth in Malir and had a criminal record. He was last arrested in 2008 after an encounter,” he said.
