Karachi: Car lifter nabbed after encounter
KARACHI: The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) arrested a notorious car lifter after an encounter in the limits of Jackson police station. An ACLC team signalled a suspicious car (AQA 208) to stop during snap checking at Mai Kolachi Road. The driver did not stop and tried to escape.
The ACLC team chased it and after a brief encounter overpowered the accused. The arrested person was later identified as Sonharo alias Kansaro, the most wanted car lifter of the province. A TT pistol, more than one-kilogramme hashish and several bullets were also recovered from his possession. The car, he was driving, was stolen from Clifton on January 17, 2011.
Sonharo is told to be a gang leader of an organised and notorious inter-provincial car-lifting gang. He originally hails from district Larkana. He started his criminal activities back in 1998. Till today he has been arrested four times and served jail. With the help of a panel of lawyers he always managed to get bail and start criminal activities again.
