Smuggled fake medicines seized in Quetta
QUETTA: The Police have seized 43 cartons of fake medicines in Kuchlak area, a nearby town of Quetta city which were being smuggled to Quetta.
Police told that it had received information that smugglers after paying ‘lion share’ to personnel deployed at border to check smuggling of drugs and fake medicines had been smuggling a consignment of fake, sub-standard and spurious medicines to Quetta.
Acting on the tip-off, a police party headed by SP Kuchlak Dr Atif Naveed and SHO Asif Ghaffoor intercepted an ambulance in Kuchlak area near the metropolis.
On searching the ambulance vehicle, the police recovered 43 cartons filled with fake medicines. The police arrested the smugglers identified as Siddiqullah and Sanaullah and registered a case against the accused.
It is pertinent to mention here that like that Peshawar, Quetta had become a gateway for smuggling of fake medicines to different regions of Pakistan.
