Dacoit killed, his 4 aides arrested in Karachi
KARACHI: An alleged dacoit was killed and his four accomplices were arrested in separate encounters in different parts of the metropolis here on Tuesday.
The first encounter took place in Malir Cantt area where two armed men looted Multan Khan and his family.
Soon after the incident, Multan Khan informed CID police. The CID intervened the dacoits on their way and signalled them to stop upon which they opened fire.
After an exchange of fire for some time, the police arrested the bandits Asghar Chandio and Zulfiqar Rind and recovered two TT pistols and other looted valuables from their possession.
SP Mazhar Mashwani said one bandit Asghar Chandio received injuries during the encounter and was admitted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in critical condition.
Mashwani said the police have started investigation into the incident. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
The second encounter took place at Mumtaz Hussain Road, MPR Colony, Mithadar.
SHO Zafar Ahmed said the police conducted a raid at Mumtaz Hussain Road on a tip-off that three bandits were trying to escape after looting the KESC wires from Saddar Area.
The police signalled the car of the bandits to stop but they tried to flee. The police opened fire on them killing a bandit on the spot, while two of his accomplices Abdullah and Sajid Khan were overpowered.
Police officials said the dead bandit was identified as Zahir Khan, who was the resident of Sikandarabad, Keamari and he was released from jail 20 days ago.
The police said they also recovered some KESC wires, a car and two TT pistols from their possession.
