Karachi: Police nab extortionists
KARACHI: Korangi police on Monday claimed to have arrested three criminals of an international group involved in various cases of extortion from doctors in the city.
SP Usman Ghani Siddiqui said a police party conducted a raid on a tip-off and arrested three accused Zeeshan alias Shani, Ramiz Raja and Fardeen alias Noori and recovered one 9mm pistol, two TT pistols and one snatched motorcycle form their possession.
Ghani said during initial investigation, the accused revealed that their gang is involved in collection of extortion money from doctors in Karachi.
They also revealed that their gang leaders Johnson alias Sultan and Sohail operate from South Africa.
They have confessed to receiving the extortion money from various areas in the metropolis and total extortion cases verified are 13. Further investigation is in process.
