Karachi: Two, including PPP activist, gunned down
KARACHI: An activist of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was gunned down, while another injured near Jauhar Morr within the limits of Sharah-e-Faisal police station.
The victim Nadeem alias Ganja, 29, son of Siraj was passing by Jauhar Morr, Gulistan-e-Jauhar on his motorcycle with a friend Salman, when two armed men also on a motorcycle opened indiscriminate firing on them. Resultantly, Nadeem died on the spot and his friend Salman sustained injuries. The armed men managed to flee after completing their mission. Police shifted them to the nearest private hospital where the doctors pronounced the death of Nadeem and gave Salman medical treatment. Later, police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and injured to Civil Hospital Karachi.
DSP Ramzan Gopang said victim was the resident of Classic View Apartments, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and at the time of the incident he was going with his friend to purchase some household items. The officer said the victim was an activist of PPP, but nowadays he was not working for the party. Eyewitness told the police that both armed men were wearing helmets, which is why they did not see their faces, but both were in jeans and shirt.
DSP Gopang further informed that the victim had been arrested a few months ago for robbery and nowadays he was unemployed. The victim’s brother Sohail is the vice president of area ward office of PPP. Later, police handed over the body to the heirs. No case was registered till the filing of the report. It is pertinent to mention that two days ago in the same area a PPP activist Khalid was killed and his wife sustained injuries when they going home after having dinner at a restaurant.
Separately, a man was shot dead near Sara Apartments, Gulshan-e-Iqbal in the limits of Sacchal police station.
The victim was identified as Yousuf, 42, son of Shafiq. He was a resident of Gulshan-e-Maymaar and used to teach the holy Quran. According to details, he was going on his cycle, when two armed men came and opened fire on him. He received six gunshots to his body. Police shifted him to the nearest private hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
SHO Izhar Hussain Lahori said it looks like personal enmity is the motive behind the murder. Police shifted his body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem.
