Customs seizes 1.5kg hashish at Karachi airport
KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs’ Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC), Karachi Airport Unit has seized 1.5kg hashish from the possession of an Afghan passenger.
According to details, the DEC staff while clearing the outgoing passengers at the International Departure Lounge of the Jinnah International Airport intercepted an Afghan passenger Abdul Resak Rasaki travelling to Frankfurt (Germany) via Dubai by Emirates Airlines Flight EK-601 on a special travel document issued to him in Germany in 2008.
During thorough examination of his baggage the Customs staff first recovered hashish concealed in specially carved out cavities in the lower portion of a pair of Chappals that was kept in his suitcase.
The Customs examining officer then found hashish concealed in an identical manner in a similar pair of Chappals that was worn by the passenger during Customs check.
The contraband stuff recovered from two pairs of Chappals was found to be 1.5kg, which was accordingly seized.
Consequent upon recovery and seizure of contraband narcotics, the accused passenger was arrested and a prosecution case under the Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 has been registered against him. Further investigations were in progress.
