Karachi: Sri Lankan consulate employee killed on resistance
KARACHI: A Sri Lankan Consulate employee was gunned down when he offered resistance during a snatching bid at Nishtar Road within the jurisdiction of Nabi Bux Police Station.
The victim Prem, 50, son of Goband was the resident of Soldier Bazaar. He was going with his son on a motorcycle when armed men intercepted him near Nishtar Road and tried to snatch valuables, upon which, he offered resistance and got shot. He died on the spot.
After hearing the gunshot police reached the spot and after an encounter arrested one bandit Zubair and recovered a TT pistol and looted mobile phones from his procession.
His accomplice managed to flee from the scene. SP Qamar Raza Jasqani said the victim was an employee of Sri Lanka Consulate and used to work as a lower staff. Further investigation was in process.
