Gujrat: Ex-nazim booked for attacking procession
GUJRAT: The Kunjah police on Thursday booked a former union council nazim and his six accomplices for attacking a procession of Eid Miladun Nabi taken out by some children in Kot Matta village, some 25 kilometres away from here.
Participants in the procession were chanting religious slogans that annoyed former Nagrianwala union council nazim Chaudhry Zulfiqar Warraich, who reportedly belonged to another religious sect, and he along with his accomplices started thrashing the young participants and made them disperse.
The attackers later entered the houses of the people belonging to their opposite sect and tore down flags and buntings displayed to celebrate the occasion.
The police registered a case against the attackers under sections 295, 295-A, 452 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Bilal Hasan.
