Waiter gunned down over bill argument in Karachi
KARACHI: A young waiter employed by a restaurant in the Metroville area of Scheme 33 was gunned down on Thursday allegedly by some armed men when he asked them to pay the bill of the food they had ordered, police said. They said that the firing also left the restaurant owner wounded.
Some five to six men entered the ‘New Kakar hotel’ in block 1 of Metroville near Abul Hasan Ispahani Road within the remit of the Mubina Town police station.
After having breakfast, they refused to pay the bill,” said an area police official.
“The situation led to a heated argument and finally the men took out pistols and fired several shots.”
He said the firing left 24-year-old waiter Abdul Samad and 32-year-old restaurant owner Abdul Hafeez wounded, who were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“The armed men, meanwhile, escaped from the restaurant while the wounded Abdul Samad died during treatment. The body was later shifted to the JPMC for an autopsy,” he said, adding that the people behind the firing had been identified and efforts were being made to arrest them.
