Islamabad: Man gunned down
ISLAMABAD: A man was shot dead over a marriage dispute on Saturday, police said. Two persons came to the house of Abdul Latif, a dispatcher in the Economic Affairs Division, and inquired about his son, Asad Latif. As he started walking with the two persons, one of them opened fire at him, police said.
Hearing the gunshot, his family members and neighbours rushed outside and found him injured on the road. He was shifted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the victim’s son and a girl eloped after their families opposed their marriage. They tied the knot two months back. However, the couple returned to the house of Abdul Latif two days ago when the family accepted the marriage. But the girl’s family, according to the police, was still angry.
Police said after getting information about the couple’s return, the girl’s brother and brother-in-law came to Latif’s home with the intention of killing them.
