Karachi: 2 arms smugglers apprehended
KARACHI: Sindh police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) have arrested two men allegedly involved in arms smuggling in the city on Monday.
The arrests were made from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area on a tip-off. The arrested persons were identified as Sajid and Nazeer. Their arrests were disclosed in a press conference held at CID office on Monday evening.
Speaking at the press conference, CID SP Mazhar Mashwani said that the accused were involved in arms smuggling and three Kalashnikovs, two 8mm rifles, one repeater and adapter missiles were also recovered from their possession.
The officer further said that the weapons were smuggled into the city from Peshawar. He said that during initial course of interrogation, the accused revealed that they were sent from Peshawar to smuggle weapons into a city.
They said that they were waiting for instructions from Peshawar to hand the weapons over to a person in the city but the police arrested them.
The SP added that said one accused Sajid was earlier arrested by North Nazimabad police. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, the SP said.
