FIA official held at airport with pistol in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI, March 1: The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Tuesday took an official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration wing into custody as he was spotted carrying a loaded pistol and 22 rounds at the International Departure Lounge of Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
FIA official Habibullah was carrying weapon inside the prohibited area, when the check-in of a Bangkok flight (PK-892) was underway. Therefore, he was taken into custody and later, was handed over to the FIA for further action.
Later, during preliminary investigation, he revealed that he was asked by his senior officer to give protocol to one of his friends who was leaving for Bangkok.
Additional Director FIA immigration Nasrullah Gondal when contacted said that the official was carrying the weapon `mistakenly`.
