Prayer leader gunned down in Karachi
KARACHI: A young Pesh Imam (prayer leader) was gunned down in a Surjani Town mosque on Wednesday, police said.
They said that Abdul Razzaq, in his mid-20s, sustained two bullet injuries and died on the spot. His body was later shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico legal formalities.
“He was the Pesh Imam at the Masjid-o-Madressah Faizan-i-Kabeer, located in Sector 36-A of Surjani Town,” said Inspector Mudassir Rafiq, the SHO of Surjani Town Police Station.
“Two men on a motorbike stopped outside the mosque and rushed into it. They ran towards Abdul Razzaq, who was having a chat with some visitors, and one of them pulled out a pistol and fired shots at him.”
The victim was hit by bullets in the head and chest and died on the spot while the attackers fled the scene in a flash, he said, adding that the armed men did not take away anything from anyone present in the mosque.
