11 gangs smashed in Lahore
LAHORE: on Thursday claimed to have smashed 11 gangs of hardened criminals by arresting 51 gangsters including two proclaimed offenders involved in several cases of heinous crimes during the last month.
According to a police spokesman, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sheikhupura DIG Rai Altaf Hussain stated this while addressing a meeting of senior police officer at his office on Thursday.
The meeting also reviewed the over all crimes and law and order situation in the region. The DIG further said that the regional police also recovered looted cash worth Rs 3.9m, drugs and illegal weapons from the possession of arrested bandits.
He said the Sheikhupura region police had launched the massive crackdown against the proclaimed offenders and hardened criminals on the directions of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and IGP Punjab Javed Iqbal.
He said that no less than 479 proclaimed offenders and court absconders were arrested from different districts of the region during the last month while the police also recovered illegal weapons in huge quantity from their possession.
He directed the police officers and officials not to leave any stone unturned for the security of lives and property of the people.
