2 cops among five hurt in Peshawar attack
PESHAWAR: At least five persons, including two policemen and children, were injured after a police check-post was blown up in the Shaikhan Chowk area in the limits of the Badabher Police Station on Saturday.
The area where the explosion took place is near the Khyber Agency, around 12 kilometres southwest of the city. A police official said that the explosives were fitted on a bicycle parked near the check-post. He said that the check-point was being jointly manned by personnel of the police and paramilitary Frontier Constabulary (FC).
A bomb disposal unit official said that a timer was used in the attack and at least two kilogrammes of explosives were used in the blast. The official said that the explosion did not cause a lot of damage because it occurred in an open area.
The injured policemen were identified as Fazal Rahim and Raj Wali and were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital. Two children and a shopkeeper also sustained injuries, but were said to be in stable condition.
