Three more killed in Orangi Town
KARACHI: Violence erupted in Orangi Town after three people were shot dead on Tuesday. According to reports, violence erupted after the killing of central member of Pakhtoon Students Federation Imran Afridi in Sector 5-L, Qasba Colony within the limits of Pirabad police station.
Police said that Afridi was on his way to home when unknown assailants opened fire on him. As a result, he suffered three bullets and died on the way to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Following the incident, unknown gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on 1-D bus near Qasba Morr that left a commuter Abdul Hassan, 45, dead and injured four others, including Irfan, 32, Shahbaz, 21, Shahid, 30, and Ibrahim 21. Riots gripped the entire locality and intermittent firing took place in various areas, including Qasba Colony, Faqeer Colony, Banaras and Orangi Town.
The firing claimed another life in Faqeer Colony within the limits of Mominabad police station. The resident of the area claimed that Abdul Ghaffar, resident of the same area, was gunned down in the firing of security personnel while police claimed that unknown armed men shot him dead and managed to flee.
Soon after the incidents, commercial and social activities in Orangi Town and its adjacent localities were suspended amid intermittent firing.
The sources said that enraged residents of affected areas also chanted slogans against the law enforcers and damaged a police mobile in Faqeer Colony area.
