Terrorist given death on 40 counts in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) No 3 on Monday awarded death sentence to Umer Adeel on 40 counts for planning a suicide attack on vehicle of an intelligence agency in September 2007.
Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed sentenced Adeel on charges of taking the suicide bomber in his vehicle and leaving him near the vehicle that he succeeded in blowing up.
The court sentenced him to death on 20 counts for killing 20 people and 20 counts for abetting terrorism. The court also fined him Rs 6 million.
Adeel dropped the attacker near the target and drove off. He was arrested from Baraf Khana Chowk and two hand grenades were recovered from his possession.
