Industrialist shot dead in Lahore market
LAHORE: Two motorcyclists allegedly gunned down a sugar mill owner in Gulberg on Tuesday.
Shakil Bhatti, managing director of Chishtian Sugar Mills, was buying furniture from a shop on Ghalib Road when the assailants barged in, held all customers hostage, fired shots at Bhatti and fled.
Model Town SP (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf told Dawn that Bhatti was shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. He said initial investigations showed Bhatti had enmity with someone.
He said Bhatti’s family had been informed about the incident. His body was sent to the city morgue for an autopsy and no case had been registered till the filing of this report at 11pm.
