Fake degrees seized in Darra
KOHAT: The political administration of Frontier Region, Kohat, on Wednesday seized fake educational certificates of foreign countries and the machinery used in their preparation in a raid in Darra Adamkhel bazaar.
Talking to this correspondent, assistant political agent Gul Jamal said that they had arrested the leader of the gang, which was involved in preparation of counterfeit documents, official stamps, chassis numbers, computerised identity cards and driving and arms licences.
Mr Jamal said that certificates and degrees of educational institutions of Russia and Afghanistan were also recovered from the shop.
Officials said that the gang leader, Iman Gul, told the interrogators that they had buyers of fake documents all over the country. The raiding party also impounded machines, CDs and computers used in the making of fake documents and sent the accused to the district prison under the Frontier Crimes Regulations.
The trial of Iman Gul will now be conducted by the assistant political agent for punishment otherwise the matter would be closed on the request and fine offered by the elders of his tribe.
Shops dealing in fake documents can be easily found at several places in Darra Adamkhel. Moreover, over 900 small workshops and factories of arms and ammunition were also operating despite military operation in the region since 2007.
