Five hurt in aerial fire in Karachi
KARACHI: At least five people, including two minor boys, were injured when jubilant citizens opened aerial fire to celebrate the Pakistan cricket team’s victory over West Indies in the first quarterfinal of the World Cup 2011. Soon after the victory, many parts of the city, including Lyari, Garden, Liaquatabad, New Karachi, Rizvia, Nazimabad and others echoed with aerial fire.
As a result, three people, including seven-year-old Ahsan Waheed, were wounded in different areas of Liaquatabad Town, while eight-year-old Asif Sardar sustained injuries when a stray bullet hit him on Maula Madad Chowk in Chakiwara area. The injured were shifted to different hospitals of the city where their conditions were stated to be out of danger.
