6 illegal clinics sealed in Swabi
SWABI: District Health Officer Dr Gul Mohammad sealed six clinics of Afghan doctors in different areas of Swabi on Wednesday because they were not registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC). Sources said that health officials came to know that some Afghan doctors working in refugee camps at Gohati and Gandaf had established their clinics in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate zone and other areas.
They said that Afghan doctors did not heed to the warnings from the health officials to limit their activities to the camps. The sources said that one Afghan doctor Asadullah was running Mashal Children Centre in Swabi; Dr Abdul Sattar and Dr Jamal Nasir had set up clinics in Topi main bazaar; Dr Tehsil Khan and Dr Abbas Shinwari in Gadoon estate areas and another doctor, whose name could not be ascertained, in Gandaf. The DHO sealed all the clinics and sent the names of the doctors to the director general health for further action.
When contacted, the DHO said that these doctors were not registered with the PM&DC, which was essential for medical practice in any part of the country.
