Violence erupts on arrest of ST activist
KARACHI: Violence and arson erupted in Mehmoodabad Parsi Colony here on Wednesday over the arrest of a Sunni Tehreek (ST) activist. The inhabitants of Mehmoodabad Parsi Colony turned violent when the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Sindh police arrested ST worker Ghulam Rasool along with two others.
They took to the street and pelted moving vehicles with stones and set a bus U-4 on fire. A ST spokesman Faheem Sheikh said the detained ST activist scuffled with drug peddlers and registered a case against them at a local police station, but the police, instead of taking stern action against drug peddlers, detained him with no reason. When this scribe contacted SP Ali Raza in this regard, he was unable to clarify the matter.
