AVCC recovers abducted businessman in Karachi
KARACHI: The Anti–Violence Crime Cell (AVCC) claimed to have killed an alleged kidnapper and rescued an abducted businessman in a shootout in Gulshan-e-Maymar, Gaddap Town on Thursday. Two accomplices of the kidnapper managed to flee.
DSP Irfan Ahmed said that the AVCC on a tip-off conducted a raid at Mullah Essa Brohi Goth, Gulshan-e-Maymar and recovered a hostage, 74-year-old Faisal Abdi, a prominent businessman, after a brief encounter. The police claimed to have killed an alleged abductor, whose identity was yet to be ascertained and recovered one repeater and two TT pistols from his possession. Irfan said Abdi was kidnapped on March 20, 2011 from Gulshan-e-Maymar and the kidnappers had demanded Rs 5 million for ransom and finally they had settled at Rs 1.2 million. Irfan further said the kidnapper’s group was involved in many cases of kidnapping for ransom and police had started to trace his accomplices.
