Karachi: CID nabs 3 arms, drug smugglers
KARACHI: The Sindh Police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) claimed to have arrested three arms and drug smugglers from a passenger bus and recovered one kalashnikov and huge quantity of hashish from their possession on Thursday.
SSP Mazhar Mashwani apprised that a police party conducted a raid on a tip-off at Al-Madina coach bus stop situated in Pathan Colony, Manghopir and arrested three accused, Asmat Khan, Rehmat Ullah and Aqal Nawaz, from the passenger bus (C-1477).
Police also recovered 13kg hashish and one kalashnikov from the secret shelves of the bus. Inspector Irfan Ahmed said that the accused hailed from Peshawar and were involved in several cases of arms and drug smuggling.
The officer said that further investigation is under way. It may be mentioned here that this is the second arrest of arms smugglers in the current month from Karachi. Arms and drugs are being smuggled into Karachi quite frequently while the city police doing their best to curb smuggling.
