Lahore: Bad blood leads to youth’s murder
LAHORE: A youngster was killed while his younger brother suffered wounds when four people opened fire as well as stabbed them over a dispute near Lakhu Dahar locality of Baghbanpura on Saturday morning, police said.
The victims were walking near a weigh station, half a kilometer from their Sharifpura residence, when four armed men on two motorcycles stopped them on the main road around 10:30am and opened fire, a police official said.
Baghbanpura police SHO Liaquat Ali said the suspects led by Shahbaz were brothers of the wife of 21-year old Muhammad Aamir Arif who had contracted court marriage with his cousin two and a half months ago.
Quoting witnesses, he said the attackers also injured the victims with knives after shooting.
He said Aamir died instantly while his 19-year old brother, Suleman Arif, was transported to Mayo Hospital with multiple wounds by a Rescue 1122 ambulance. His condition was said to be out of danger.
Quoting the family, the SHO said both sides made several efforts for reconciliation over the marriage issue but failed. Shahbaz and his brothers were nursing grudge against Aamir, an electrician. The police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case against five people. Aamir’s wife is still at the house of her in-laws.
