Rs3mn looted from a Rawalpindi bank
RAWALPINDI: Four unknown armed persons on Monday stormed into a bank and made away with Rs3 million after injuring the security guard of the bank on resistance in the congested area of Ratta Road within the limits of Gunjmandi Police Station.
Eyewitnesses said that four persons in late twenties armed with sophisticated weapons entered into Habib Bank Limited (HBL) branch situated at Rata Road at 1pm during the peak hours by making the bank staff and other customers present in the bank hostage at gunpoint and looted Rs 3 million from the bank lockers.
The robbers after looting money easily managed to escape from the crime scene while police were probing the incident and so far no case has been registered in this regard.
The unknown dacoits also injured a security guard of the bank by hitting with the guns when he made a failed attempt to resist them. The dacoits also took his gun and easily managed to escape from the scene.
The bank authorities informed the police about the incident and a heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene and started inquiry from the bank staff and other people present in the bank.
