Karachi: 2 extortionists apprehended
KARACHI: The Police on Tuesday claimed to have apprehended two men allegedly involved in over a 100 cases of extortion.
The alleged extortionists were identified as Amir and Yasin, said South Zone DIG Iqbal Mehmood in a press conference held at Darakhshan Police Station.
The DIG said that during the initial course of interrogation, culprits confessed to have received over Rs150 million from over a 100 traders and shopkeepers in the city, adding that their five associates were earlier arrested in separate raids.
He said that the accused Yasin used to make phone calls pretending to be Lyari’s notorious gangster Baba Ladla after getting their numbers through telephone directory.
He further said that Amir was arrested from Gulshan-e-Iqbal town. One TT pistol, 11 mobile phones, SIM cards and a telephone directory was also recovered from their possession.
