7, including woman, killed in Lahore violence
LAHORE: At least seven people, including a woman, were killed in different incidents in the provincial capital on Wednesday.
In the first incident, a 38-year-old man was shot dead by four people outside the sessions court on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Iftikhar, a resident of Gujjarpura. Police said that the accused, Ameen and Shahzad along with their two accomplices, approached the victim coming out of the sessions court and shot him dead. The victim had an old rivalry with the accused party. Police have registered a case against Ameen, Shahzad and two others on the complaint of the deceased’s sister, Musarat. His body was shifted to morgue for autopsy.
In the second incident, a 40-year-old property dealer was shot dead by four unidentified people in the limits of Barki police. The victim was identified as Altaf, a resident of Pangali village. Police said the victim was shot dead over unknown reasons by four unidentified people near his house. Police shifted the body to the city morgue for autopsy.
In the third incident, a 48-year-old security guard was shot dead by three dacoits on resistance in the jurisdiction of Naulakha police. The victim, identified as Abdur Rehman, hailed from Sargodha. Police said that he was on duty in al Hadeb Market, Brandth Road, when three armed robbers approached and held him hostage at gunpoint. He attempted to overpower one of the robbers, who fired at him and escaped from the scene. The injured guard was shifted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His body was shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.
Separately, a 35-year-old man was killed by a speeding train in Kot Lakhpat area. The victim was identified as Muhammad Hussain, a resident of Gulshan Colony, Iqbal Town. Police said that Hussain was crossing the railway tracks when he was run over by a speeding train.
In another incident, a 55-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding car on Multan Road on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Basheera. 35-year-old Nadeem expired in a local hospital shortly after he accidentally fell from the rooftop of his house in Kahna area. A 21-year-old youth, Majid, was killed by a speeding car in Ravi Road area.
