KARACHI, April 16: The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) of the police and the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee in a joint operation recovered two brothers who had been kidnapped for ransom earlier this month, officials said.
They said that the two brothers — 30-year-old Zubair Ganatra and 18-year-old Uzair Ganatra — were kidnapped in the Mauripur area and a few days later a kidnapper contacted the family and demanded Rs10 million ransom for their release.
A CPLC-AVCC team traced the suspects in the Hub area.
“Under a devised strategy, the family offered the kidnappers that they were ready to pay the ransom amount and during the ransom payment the team challenged the kidnappers and after an exchange of gunfire they recovered the kidnapped brothers.”
