Karachi: Customs seize half kg heroin from parcel
KARACHI: Pakistan Customs’ Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC), Karachi Airport Unit seized half a kg of heroin concealed in a children jacket that was dispatched via postal parcel.
Customs’ official Qamar Thalo said that the DEC staff while clearing the outgoing international parcels at Pakistan Post’s Express Mail Service (EMS), Shahrah-e-Faisal intercepted a parcel booked from Gulshan-e-Iqbal post office for an address in Birmingham, UK.
A thorough search of the parcel led to the recovery of 500 grams fine quality heroin which was packed in small packets sewn under the inner linings of the two kids’ size warm jackets. In the recent past, mafia involved in drug smuggling started using a number of kids’ garments to conceal drug and deceive Customs’ staff.
