6 killed in separate incidents across Lahore
LAHORE: About six people, including a woman, were killed in separate incidents across the metropolis on Tuesday.
A 25-year-old man was shot dead by his rivals in the Manga Mandi area over old enmity. The victim was identified as Ijaz, son of Salamat. Police has registered a murder case against the accused, namely Faqir, and his accomplices on the complaint of victim’s brother. Police said that the families of both the victim and the accused were rivals for a long time. Some of the locals had tried to settle the matter between the two parties but had failed.
An alleged robber was killed in Hanjerwal police area, while his accomplice and two robbery victims sustained injuries when one of them snatched the pistol from the robber and opened fire on the accused persons. The deceased robber was identified as Zahid, resident of Okara, and his injured accomplice was identified as Riaz, resident of Chechawatni. According to a police official, the robbers forced their entry into the house and demanded cash and other valuables when Nazim offered resistance. As a result, one of the robbers opened fire at Nazim and Bashir, which left them injured.
Meanwhile, Nazim managed to snatch the pistol from one of the robbers and also opened fire. As a result, both accused persons sustained multiple bullet injuries. After hearing bullet shots, locals of the area informed police, which after reaching the crime scene rushed the injured persons to a nearby hospital. One of the accused persons Zahid died on the way to the hospital. The injured were shifted to hospital where the condition of Nazim was stated to be critical.
The injured accused recorded his statement with police, claiming that he and Zahid were not robbers. He added that they had staged a drama to retrieve the land, which Nazim had allegedly grabbed. However, the situation turned worse and resulted in Zahid’s death and injured three others.
Separately, a 60-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself with a tree by the help of a rope near Munir Shah Darbar, in Kahna police limits.
An unknown 50-year-old man lost his life at the hands of unidentified swindlers in Garden Town police area. Police and the Rescue 1122 team said that the deceased, yet to be identified, had been given some intoxicated substance, his valuables had been snatched and he had been thrown near the Kalma Chowk. Two other unknown men were found dead under mysterious circumstances, one near the Data Darbar, Lower Mall and the other near a shrine in Khana police areas. Police claimed that the victims were drug addicts and died due to drug overdose.
