Karachi: Bail pleas dismissed in fraud case
KARACHI: An anti-corruption court on Tuesday dismissed the bail applications of two education department officials in a fraud case.
Deputy Secretary Bashir Brohi and section officer Zaheer of the Sindh education department were booked for their alleged involvement in fraudulent appointment of lecturers. The suspects through their counsel moved bail applications in the court.
The judge of special anti-corruption court, Karachi, Rashida Asad dismissed the pleas after hearing arguments from both sides.
The court in its order observed that the alleged act tantamount to affect the public at large and if such practices were not duly checked, education standards would deteriorate further.
The case (FIR No 10/2011) was registered under Sections 161, 165-A, 167, 468, 471, 477-A and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Anti-Corruption Establishment Police Station.
