Target killing claims 3 more lives in Karachi
KARACHI: Target killing claimed three more lives, including an activist of Muhajir Qaumi Movement–Haqiqi (MQM-H), here on Tuesday.
The activist of MQM-H was shot dead near Jewellers Market, Korangi within the limits of Awami Colony police station. Victim Amir Ahmed, 23, was a resident of Sector 5-C, Landhi. He was standing at the jewellers market when two armed men shot him. Ahmed received four bullets and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
SHO Shakir Ali said that the victim was an employee of a garment factory and initial investigation revealed that it was an incident of target killing. No case could be registered till filing of this report.
In another incident, police found a body of an elderly man from Lasbela Bridge in the remits of Gulbahar police station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained. SHO Sabir Khaskheli said that the victim appeared to be of 58 years of age and had received multiple bullets. The body was transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later moved to the Edhi Morgue. Police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of state.
Similarly, police found a bullet-riddled body of a youth near Landhi Degree College within the remits of Awami Colony police station. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. SHO Shakir Ali said that the locals informed police about a body lying in bushes. Police reached and recovered the body which was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. The body was later moved to the Edhi Morgue for identification.
