Lahore: CCPO’s PA found guilty of taking bribe
LAHORE: The Lahore capital city police officer’s personal assistant was on Friday found guilty of taking a bribe from a sub-inspector in a departmental inquiry conducted by Senior Superintendent of Police (Discipline) Shariq Kamal Siddique, TheNation learnt.
“Yes, he is 100 per cent guilty. He received Rs 5,000 as bribe from a sub-inspector with a promise to solve his problem,” the SSP told this scribe on telephone. Shariq said he had submitted the inquiry report to the Lahore CCPO who would decide the ultimate fate of his personal assistant. “According to the evidences collected by various sources and the account of an Inspector, PA Jameel Butt was involved in this dirty business,” he added.
Impeccable sources claimed Jameel Butt had been discharging his duties for the last six years at the CCPO office. They further said he, in connivance with his brother and a nephew – PA to Civil Lines SP (Operations) Umar Saeed Malik – and computer operator Khawar, was involved in minting money from various police officers. They approached them to get their departmental problems resolved, the sources said.
“SI Shafi Lashaari approached Jameel Butt several days back and asked him to cooperate with him as he wanted to be transferred from North Cantonment Police Station to any other police station of the city police,” they added. The PA, the sources alleged, promised the SI saying, “Your work will be accomplished in due course of time but in reward you have to give Rs 5,000 as the authorities have fixed this amount for an SI.”
