2 killed, 3 shops burnt in Lahore
LAHORE: A 17-year-old girl was gunned down by a youth and her 15-year-old sister was critically injured in mysterious circumstances in the limits of Misri Shah Police on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Aeysha, and her sister, named Noreen, are residents of Faiz Bagh. According to police, the victim’s mother said that she had sent both her daughters to the bank to get money.
A youth, named Nadeem Khan, resident of Faiz Bagh, accompanied them to the bank. However, on the way back from the bank, the three of them had a scuffle. Khan opened fire on them, and later, managed to escape the scene, said the investigation officer of Misri Shah police station. He said that police suspects the scuffle took place when Khan asked the girls to give him the money.
Police rushed both the girls to the Mayo Hospital where Ayesha was pronounced dead while Noreen is under treatment and said to be out of danger. Separately, a 20-year-old maid committed suicide by setting herself ablaze over an unknown issue in the jurisdiction of Civil Lines police. The victim was identified as Aalia Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Aslam, and hailed from Faisalabad. Police said that Aalia had started work as a maid at Rahat Mirza’s house a few months ago. The reason of her suicide is still unknown, they said. Valuables worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes in separate fire incidents across the metropolis. According to the details, fire erupted at an electric shop owned by Yasir Ali, situated on the Mall Road.
The fire erupted due to a short circuit and gutted valuables and other materials worth thousands of rupees. Rescue 1122 reached the spot and extinguished the fire. Another such incident took place at the shop of Muhammad Shoaib near Ghora Hospital Kahna. The fire broke out due to a short circuit and reduced valuables worth thousands of rupees to ashes. Meanwhile, a fire also broke out at the Bank Market due to short circuit and gutted valuables worth one lakh rupees.
