28 doctors suspended in Karachi
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Health Dr Saghir Ahmed has ordered the immediate transfer of 28 doctors and issuance of show-cause notices to four others for being absent from work at the Sindh Government Hospital, Liaquatabad.
Health department sources said on Wednesday that the minister during his surprise visit to the hospital found those doctors absent from work.
Dr Ahmed also expressed his displeasure over the unhygienic conditions in the wards. Responding to patients’ complaints, he said negligence towards professional responsibilities, particularly in hospitals, could not be tolerated.
He asked hospital’s acting medical superintendent Dr Tasleem to ensure immediate fumigation of all wards with special care to clean bedding and whitewashed walls.
