LAHORE: City police and a team of Child Protection Welfare Bureau (CP&WB) on Wednesday carried out a joint raid and recovered at least 15 children from the office of a so-called NGO situated in Shafiqabad police vicinity.
Police sources said that one Mohammad Shafique was running the Safe Life Welfare Association situated at Bund Road in Shafiqabad area.
The NGO workers used to force the children for bonded labour and the kids were locked in the private cells inside the NGO’s office.
The NGO workers used to bring destitute children from Data Darbar area and later they were registered and kept at their office.
The police have arrested Mohammad Shafique and other NGO workers after registering a case against them. The children have been handed over to the Child Protection Bureau Punjab. Further investigations are underway.
