Three bogies derail after blast on railway track in Sukkur
SUKKUR: An explosion on railway tracks near Jacobabad railway station on Wednesday night caused three bogies of Bolan Mail train to derail but luckily no one was seriously hurt.
The locomotive and the first five bogies passed over ruptured track but three bogies in the train`s middle derailed. The driver applied emergency brakes after the blast, according to passengers.
Personnel of police and other law enforcing agencies rushed to the blast scene and cordoned off the area. Divisional Superintendent of Pakistan Railway Roshan Ali Mangi told this correspondent that a relief train carrying medicines and technical staff were immediately sent to Jacobabad.
He was hopeful railway traffic would be restored before 1am on Thursday. He said the incident was an act of terrorism but luckily it failed to cause any major damage to the tracks. Food, water and other necessary stuff were being arranged for the stranded passengers, he said.
