Karachi: Three more dead in Karachi target killings
KARACHI: Three people, including an activist of Mohajir Qaumi Movement–Haqiqi (MQM-H) Amir Khan Group, were killed in separate incidents of target killing and violence in different parts of the metropolis on Tuesday. A young man was killed and a member of Kachhi Rabita Council (KRC) injured in Kamil Street within the limits of Kharadar police station.
The incident took place in Khajoor Bazaar, Kamil Street, when unidentified armed men shot and injured two men and fled. Both injured were identified as Muzammil Memon, 20, and Mohammad Hussain, 25. They were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where Muzammil succumbed to his injuries.
SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi said Muzammil received five bullet, while Mohammad Hussain sustained two shots and his condition was serious. The SHO said that Muzammil was the resident of Sadruddin Building, Qasim Hamid Street, Kharadar and in the wee hours of Tuesday, he went outside with his friend Mohammad Hussain but after few moments, they were kidnapped from Lyari area.
The official said the victim’s family also submitted a missing report of Muzammil, adding the police found them injured in Kharadar area.
Police said Mohammad Hussain used to run a mobile shop in Moosa Lane and some extortionists group had demanded of him to pay extortion but he had refused to pay it after which he closed his shop and started a service at a company.
He said victim Muzammil was working at a cloth shop situated at Kharadar area. Police said they believed that Lyari gangsters might be involved in his murder. The police have registered an FIR No 191/11 against unidentified men and started further probe.
Separately, an activist of MQM-H Amir Khan Group, was killed and a passerby injured in firing by undefined armed men near Sindhi Hotel in the precincts of Liaquatabad police station.
A 45-year-old Hyder alias Lamba, son of Hanif, resident of Yousuf Plaza, FB Area, was standing near a rubber factory at Timber Market, Sindhi Hotel, Liaquatabad when four armed men on two motorcycles opened fire, resultantly he received a bullet in his neck and died on the spot, while a passerby Kashif, 19, an employee of a rubber factory, sustained bullet injuries.
Police shifted the injured to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). MQM-H Amir Khan group leader Feroz Haider claimed that the victim was the activist of their organisation. A man was shot dead in Aligarh Society Industrial Area in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station.
Abdul Sattar, 45, resident of Amir Gabol Goth, was guarding a flock of goats and cows with his father when unidentified armed men opened fire on him, resultantly he received two bullets and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said the victim hailed from Dadu. Tension prevailed in metropolis due to ongoing spree of target killings.
