Four die in mishaps, violence in metropolis
KARACHI: Four people died in separate incidents of violence and mishaps in different parts of the metropolis on Wednesday. An alleged bandit was shot dead near Shah Mohammad Graveyard within the remits of Sir Syed police station. The incident took place when three bandits were making their getaway after looting cash and cell phone from Zareen Khan. Police spotted the bandits while fleeing and in the crossfire killed one alleged bandit while his two accomplices managed to flee.
DSP Altaf Hussain said the bandit later identified as Mohammad Yousuf, son of Daulat Shah, was a resident of Pukhtoonabad, Manghopir and received a fatal bullet in his chest. The SP claimed that they recovered one TT pistol from him. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities. The officer said that the victim hailed from Quetta. Police have registered FIR (240/11) against Yousuf and his two compliances on the complaint of Zareen Khan and initiated the probe.
Separately, police found a four-day-old torture-marked body of man from Gulbai Railway track within the limits of City Railway police station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained. The body was shifted to the ASH for autopsy. Police said that the victim had several torture marks on his body and possessed nothing, which could help in his identification.
In another incident, an aged man was gunned down near Ghaghar Phattak Bin Qasim Town within the jurisdiction of Steel Town police station. The victim 63-year-old, Karam Khan Jokhio son of Salman Jokhio was a resident of Achar Salar Goth Bin Qasim Town. He was standing outside his house when unidentified armed men reached and opened gunfire. Police shifted him to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. Police officials said that the victim was a landlord and hailed from rural Sindh. Police have registered an FIR against unidentified men on the complaint of victim’s relative and initiated to probe the case.
Separately, a young man was crushed to death in Qayumabad within the jurisdiction of Korangi Industrial Area police station. The victim, 24-year-old Arif son of Mohammad Shareef, was a resident of Gulshan Ghazi, Baldia Town. He was employed in a factory and was on his way to work when a speeding vehicle knocked him near Qayumabad. The victim died on the spot and body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem where his family took it without having completed medico-legal formalities. No case could be registered till filling of this report.
